COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S): These are required for college and graduate applicants. Please include last completed term. You may submit photocopies, scans, or printouts of your transcripts as long as they are clear and legible. If you are selected as a finalist, we will ask you to submit official transcripts.
PERSONAL ESSAYS (2): Please write two essays on the following topics. Each essay should be typed in 12-point font and doubled spaced.
Essay #1 - Personal Statement (2-3 pages): Tell us about yourself. What is important for us to know about you? You may want to write about one or more of the following: your personal history, your goals and dreams, what obstacles you’ve faced, and your accomplishments.
Essay #2 - College/Graduate Ambitions (1-2 pages): Tell us about your college or graduate ambitions. Why do you want to go to college or graduate school? What do you hope to learn, contribute, and achieve? What obstacles will you face, and how will you overcome them?
RECOMMENDATIONS (3): Two recommendations must be provided by educators or academic counselors. The third recommendation can be completed by an educator, counselor, or work/extracurricular/community service supervisor.
We ask that your recommendations talk about your academic performance, as this is very important to us. We would also like to learn about other aspects of your life, which can include how you work with others, your dedication and commitment to a college education, community involvement, leadership, how you overcome challenges, your financial need, and why you would make a good participant in our Scholars Program, etc.
You will need to get in touch with each of your recommenders and ask them to write a letter on your behalf. There is no specific recommendation form; recommenders are free to use their own format. Recommendations must be emailed with your other Supplementary Materials; they should not be sent separately.
