APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
OVERVIEW OF APPLICATION PROCESS
- Carefully read through our Overview and Eligibility page to make sure you are eligible to apply.
- Complete the Online Application.

- Prepare your Supplementary Materials (see below for detailed instructions):
- Supplementary Materials Cover Sheet
- List of Awards, Extracurricular, and Community Involvement
- High School Transcript(s) (for college applicants only)
- College Transcript(s), including last completed term (for college and graduate applicants)
- Two Personal Essays
- Three Recommendation Letters
- Complete the Online Application and submit all Supplementary Materials by Thursday, March 1, 2018.
PREPARING YOUR SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS
The following supplementary materials are ALL required.

- LIST OF AWARDS, EXTRACURRICULAR, AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT (you must complete this form)
- HIGH SCHOOL TRANSCRIPT(S): These are required for college applicants only. You may submit photocopies, scans, or printouts of your transcripts as long as they are clear and legible. If you are selected as a finalist, we will ask you to submit official transcripts.
- COLLEGE TRANSCRIPT(S): These are required for college and graduate applicants. Please include your last completed term. You may submit photocopies, scans, or printouts of your transcripts as long as they are clear and legible. If you are selected as a finalist, we will ask you to submit official transcripts.
- PERSONAL ESSAYS (2): Please write two essays on the following topics. Each essay should be typed in 12-point font and doubled spaced.
- Essay #1 - Personal Statement (2-3 pages): Tell us about yourself. What is important for us to know about you? You may want to write about one or more of the following: your personal history, your goals and dreams, what obstacles you’ve faced, and your accomplishments.
- Essay #2 - College/Graduate Ambitions (1-2 pages): Tell us about your college or graduate ambitions. Why do you want to go to college or graduate school? What do you hope to learn, contribute, and achieve? What obstacles will you face, and how will you overcome them?
- Optional: You may use this form for your personal essays.
- RECOMMENDATIONS (3): Two recommendations must be provided by educators or academic counselors. The third recommendation can be completed by an educator, counselor, or work/extracurricular/community service supervisor.
- We ask that your recommendations talk about your academic performance, as this is very important to us. We would also like to learn about other aspects of your life, which can include how you work with others, your dedication and commitment to a college education, community involvement, leadership, how you overcome challenges, your financial need, and why you would make a good participant in our Scholars Program, etc.
- You will need to contact each of your recommenders and ask his/her to write a letter on your behalf. There is no specific recommendation form; recommenders are free to use their own format.
- Recommendation letters must be submitted by the recommenders separately. You should not include recommendation letters with your Supplementary Materials.
- Make sure your recommenders submit their recommendations letters by Thursday, March 1st at 5 PM.
- Share these Recommendation Instructions with each of your recommenders.
SUBMITTING YOUR SUPPLEMENTARY MATERIALS
- Gather all your Supplementary Materials (excluding your recommendation letters, which must be submitted separately by your recommenders).

Submit your Supplementary Materials by hand delivery, mail or email.
- Hand Delivery or Mail: Send all your Supplementary Materials in one package to the address below. Do not stable, tape, or glue anything. All Supplementary Materials must be received (not postmarked) by Wednesday, March 1st at 5 PM.

- Email: Scan all your supplementary materials (open and check them to make sure they're legible and complete), and attach them to an email. In the subject line of your email, make sure to write “Supplementary Materials from YOUR LAST NAME, YOUR FIRST NAME” (i.e. “Supplementary Materials from LIO, BELEZA”). Email to scholarships@e4fc.org.
- Confirm with each of your recommenders that he/she has submitted your recommendation letter.
- All Supplementary Materials must be received by Thursday, March 1, 2018 at 5 PM. Late submissions will not be considered.
WHAT HAPPENS AFTER I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION?
- If selected as a semifinalist, you may be asked to submit additional information, including a Financial Need Assessment (template will be provided).
- If selected as a finalist, you will be asked to participate in an interview and submit the following:
- Most recent copy of student and parent (if applicable) Federal Income Tax Returns (Form 1040). If tax returns are not available, then other documentation of student and parent (if applicable) income in 2016.
- Evidence of birth in a country outside of the United States (i.e. photocopy of birth certificate or passport).
- All scholarship recipients will be notified by June 1, 2018.
